Kasetsart University, established in 1943, is one of the oldest universities in Thailand with a current student population of around 57,000 in different campuses, of which, 11,000 are graduate students. It is comprised of 20 faculties and a graduate school, 11 institutes, 7 offices, 2 colleges and 2 affiliated institutes. As a leading comprehensive university both nationally and internationally, it is currently offering 109 bachelor’s degree programs to 46,000 students, 103 master’s degree programs to 10,000 students and 45 doctorate degree programs to 1,400 students. The 13 international degree programs are composed of 3 doctoral degree programs, 9 master’s degree programs and 1 bachelor’s double degree program. One of the master’s degree programs is an M.S. in Development Communication.
ICDC is under the administration of the Extension and Training Office (ETO). ETO was established by the Office of the Prime Minister as a unit of Kasetsart University equivalent to an academic faculty on August 21, 1970. The objectives of the ETO is to provide educational services to the general public and undergraduate students of Kasetsart University as well as the international community by offering short term courses at ICDC.
The vision of the International Center for Development Communication (ICDC) is to be a leading center of excellence in development training, communication and consultancy services.To attain its mission, the fundamental purpose of ICDC as an extension arm of Kasetsart University in its international service mission, is to build and maintain quality services provided to supportrelevant organizations in their capacity building efforts for sustainable development in the social and economic sectors primarily on agricultural extension, health promotion, preventive education, environmental protection, and participatory planning and implementation of development efforts for desirable behavior change.
The Extension and Training Office (ETO) of Kasetsart University (KU) has a wide network by which expertise is readily available in terms of resource persons and field activities. Participatory and interactive training techniques are the main expertise of ICDC in addition to internationally recognized quality programs complemented by the Thai hospitality.
